The National Hockey League is hoping they can use the allure of the legendary Chicago Cubs stadium and a rising superstar player to make sure their marketable "Winter Classic" event dominates television ratings once again.

Since being created in 2008, the Winter Classic has been the most-viewed regular season game of the NHL season.

That is until this current one.

Chicago Blackhawks' rookie sensation, Connor Bedard, outdrew the game between the Seattle Kraken and Las Vegas Golden Knights when he made his debut early in the year.

So, the NHL wants to capitalize on the star and use the Cubs' venue of Wrigley Field to do it according to Ben Pope of The Chicago-Sun Times.

This will be the second time that the Winter Classic has been played at Wrigley, making it the second venue to ever host this even multiple times. Chicago got the second installment back in 2009 when they welcome the Detroit Red Wings into town.

The Blackhawks have been a staple of this event throughout the years, participating in four of them. When the St. Louis Blues come next season, that will be their fifth time the Blackhawks have played in the Winter Classic, the most of any team in NHL history.

As far as the Cubs go, it really doesn't affect them too much.

The game will be played on a rink across the infield and there is no scheduling conflict that the two leagues and owners need to work out.

This will provide fans of other sports to see the great Wrigley Field venue in a different light and allow Chicago fans to watch their favorite hockey team in a stadium they're very familiar with.
