Who doesn't love some good news? Well, if you're a Chicago Cubs fans getting ready some for our Tuesday edition of our "Notes" segment.

Marquee Sports has reported that second baseman Nico Hoerner is day-to-day as of Tuesday. Hoerner suffered some left hamstring tightness and exited Monday night's game.

Hoerner has been an excellent leadoff man this season and has paired well defensively with Dansby Swanson in the middle infield. If he can avoid an injured list stint, that would be huge for a club looking for some answers offensively.

The same reports has Brandon Hughes throwing a bullpen tomorrow. That brings him one step closer to returning to the bullpen, a unit that could use some reinforcements.

Finally, starter Kyle Hendricks will throw at Triple-A Iowa today after returning to the team for a couple of days to work through some things. Manager David Ross gave no illusions that when Hendricks is ready, he will be welcomed back.
