Happy Wednesday! Unfortunately the Chicago Cubs were unable to complete, or even start, their rubber match with the Cincinnati Reds. The Cubs were hoping to get their first series victory under their belt before welcoming the Texas Rangers for a three-game series at Wrigley Field over Easter Weekend.

But, here we are and Chicago sits with a 2-3 record entering the weekend.

Wednesday's postponed game will be made up Sept. 1 in a doubleheader against Cincinnati.

Former Cubs relief pitcher Spencer Patton signed a minor league deal with the Oakland Athletic's on Wednesday according to the New York Post. Patton pitched 21.1 innings for Chicago in 2016 and gave 13 earned runs.

The 35-year-old holds a career 5.11 ERA and could see some time in the Majors with the Athletics this season.

Perfect fit for Oakland and their pitching depth.

According to MLB.com, manager David Ross said the Seiya Suzuki's oblique feels "10 out of 10." He completed four at-bats in Arizona on Tuesday and Suzuki seems to be on the fast path back to the Cubs.

He could go go out for a rehab assignment "soon."
