For those who don't know how good the Chicago Cubs' pipeline has become, they should be aware now.

They have the No. 4 ranked prospect system according to MLB.com with their rookies making major impacts when they get called-up.

The Cubs' star prospect Pete Crow-Armstrong was previously recognized for his defensive prowess in the minor leagues when he won Defensive Player of the Year.

Now, two more of Chicago's prospects have won coveted awards during the final month of the season.

22-year-old third baseman Luis Verdugo closed the season on an absolute tear in September.

He recorded a slash line of .469/.541/.813 with two home runs, five doubles and seven RBI. He led the league in hits (15) and doubles during this time.

That earned him the Midwest League Player of the Month honors for September.

Verdugo is not currently ranked in the Top 30 of the Cubs' prospects according to MLB.com.

The talented youngster spent time at Double-A, playing 18 games, before being moved down to their High-A single affiliate in May, where he spent the remainder of the year.

Drew Gray also took home an award this season after returning to action one year after his Tommy John surgery.

The left handed pitcher started his season in rookie ball before getting moved up to Single-A. He started 11 games for the Myrtle Beach Pelicans and had his best month in September.

He recorded an ERA of 1.50 with 12 strikeouts across six innings pitched in his lone two starts.

The 20-year-old held left handed batters to a .056 batting average on his way to being named Pitcher of the Month.

Ownership and the front office has talked about continuing to develop their young players in order to build a future contending franchise.

Based on all the hardware their prospects have brought home this season, there is plenty of talent for them to work with.
