D-backs Excited for First Postseason Home Game in Six Years

In this story:
After starting the postseason on the road for their first four games, the Diamondbacks will return to Chase Field. It will mark the first time October Baseball is played in that stadium since the 2017 season. Their opponent remains the same as back then, but the situation could not be any more different. After getting swept out of the playoffs six years ago, the D-backs could return the favor to the Los Angeles Dodgers with a win in Game 3 tomorrow.
Much has changed since that 2017 season. Torey Lovullo was in his first year managing the club. Game 3 starter Brandon Pfaadt was starting his freshman year at Bellarmine University and superstar outfielder Corbin Carroll was a sophomore in high school. Both players are looking forward to playing in front of a sold out crowd.
"It's awesome" said Pfaadt. "Anytime Chase sells out that's good for everybody. I think it's definitely something to look forward to and it should be an awesome experience."
"It's awesome here" said Carroll. "Couldn't be more excited."
The last time the D-backs played with that type of crowd and energy came in the 2017 Wild Card game, a game Arizona won 11-8 over the Colorado Rockies. It was Lovullo's first ever playoff game and perhaps the only time in his tenure where he felt that kind of crowd presence in his home ballpark.
"And I think we probably played one of our finest games that night. I think our guys were ready to go. I just remember a lot of extra base hits and a lot of excitement. And the crowd was backing us. And I'm really excited to see what type of crowd we have here tomorrow."
It will be interesting to see how this team responds after playing four straight road games to begin this postseason. They know they'll be facing a Dodgers team that will manage every game moving forward like it is it's last and a fan base that is well-traveled. It will be important for them to take an early lead and get the D-backs side of the crowd revved up and putting some additional pressure on their opponent.
A win the Dodgers at home would be another great chapter in the team's redemption arc this postseason, and their second pool party in the past two weeks.
