Reno Aces 2, Las Vegas Aviators 13; 2-1

Brandon Pfaadt made his first start of the season for Triple-A Reno after an impressive showcase this spring. He opened up the first by striking out three of the four batters he faced in the inning. After the first, the long ball came an issue as he allowed five runs on four home runs. The exit velocities on those home runs were 113.5, 94.5, 103.5, and 104 MPH, so only one of the four could possibly be attributed to the jet stream in right field. Pfaadt managed to strike out seven and didn't issue a walk, but needed to throw 83 pitches to get to 3.2 innings.

His fastball velocity was consistent with his spring numbers, showing 92-97 MPH with an average spin of 2479 RPM. He threw the pitch 61 times and was able to get it in the zone or by hitters although it also yielded two home runs.

Buddy Kennedy knocked out a two-run home run in the third inning to account for both of Reno's runs. He also drew two walks on the day.

Dominic Fletcher (No. 14) picked up his first two hits of the season from the leadoff spot.

Blaze Alexander (No. 17) drew three walks in four plate appearances.

Pavin Smith and Dominic Canzone (No. 16) both went 0-for-4 and stranded a combined nine baserunners.

Seth Beer was 1-for-4

Justin Martinez (No. 28) and Mitchell Stumpo got rocked in this game, both serving up home runs. Martinez served up a two-run home run that was likely carried out by the wind with an exit velocity of just 94.2 MPH and Stumpo allowed four runs in the eighth inning.
