Diamondbacks Minor League Report 4/7/2023

Triple-A: Reno Aces 4 @ Tacoma Rainiers 7 (F/7); 2-4
Tommy Henry was wild in this game, walking three and allowing a three-run home run in the first inning to put Reno behind 3-0 after the first. Henry was able to recover to allow just one more run in the next four innings, finishing with 79 pitches with nearly as many strikes as balls. Fastball velocity was down, down to 87-92 MPH.
Dominic Canzone (No. 16) was able to answer in the second inning with a three-run home run of his own. Canzone added a walk later in the game, going 1-for-2.

Blaze Alexander (No. 17) had two doubles and a walk in his three plate appearances from the ninth spot in the order.
Emmanuel Rivera was 1-for-3 with a double and a game-tying sacrifice fly in the seventh.
Pavin Smith was 0-for-4
Dominic Fletcher (No. 14) was 0-for-3 with a sacrifice bunt
Diego Castillo went 1-for-3
Mitchell Stumpo retired only one of four hitters faced, walking two before coughing up a walk-off three-run homer in the bottom of the seventh.
Triple-A: Reno Aces 2, Tacoma Rainiers 5; 2-5
Blake Walston (No. 7) saw his command waver in this start, with four walks and five hits over three-plus innings. His fastball velocity was down to 87-92 MPH, so he mixed in more changeups and sliders. In the first three innings, Walston held Tacoma to one run, but failed to retire any of the three hitters he faced in the fourth before getting lifted at 73 pitches. All three bequeathed runners came around to score in the inning.
Justin Martinez (No. 28) fired two scoreless innings with three strikeouts. He was able to utilize his slider for six of the seven whiffs, with hitters having to respect a fastball that was 97-100 MPH.
Blaze Alexander went hitless in three at-bats and struck out twice.
Diego Castillo had two hits, including an RBI double in the first, to push his hitting streak to seven games to open the season.
Pavin Smith was 2-for-3 with a run scored, but was thrown out on home plate on Castillo's double in the first.
Dominic Fletcher went 0-for-3
Double-A: Amarillo Sod Poodles 3 @ Frisco RoughRiders 1; 1-1
Luke Albright turned in an impressive start, handling a prospect-loaded lineup for one run in five innings on just one hit, two walks, and seven strikeouts to get the win.
Ryan Bliss (No. 26) had two hits, including a two-run triple that gave Amarillo the lead.

Jordan Lawlar (No. 3) was 1-for-4 and drove in Bliss with a single.
Deyvison De Los Santos (No. 12) was 0-for-4 with a strikeout
High-A: Hillsboro Hops 7 @ Tri-City Dust Devils 3; 1-1
The win is the first for Hillsboro manager Ronnie Gajownik, the first woman managing at the High-A level.

Wilderd Patino (No. 19) reached base in all five plate appearances on three singles and two walks. He also ran wild on the Dust Devils, going 3-for-3 on stolen base attempts.
Conor Grammes (No. 27) completed a scoreless inning despite three walks and one infield hit allowed thanks to his catcher throwing out a run attempting to steal second.
Low-A: Visalia Rawhide 1 @ Lake Elsinore Storm 2; 0-2
Druw Jones was 1-for-5, picking up his first professional hit.
