Diamondbacks Minor League Report: April 26, 2023

In this story:
The Diamondbacks minor league affiliates combined for a 2-2 record.
Triple-A Reno
Brandon Pfaadt wasn't particularly dominant in this start, but turned in another workman-like performance without his best stuff. The D-backs top pitching prospect allowed three runs on seven hits, two walks, and five strikeouts over five innings. His fastball was 92-95 MPH and relied on his slider as his main secondary pitch. The fastball and slider account for 72 of the 85 pitches Pfaadt threw on the day.
Dominic Fletcher continues to swing a hot bat. The D-backs outfield prospect added three more hits, include a game-icing three run home run in the eighth inning that put Reno up 10-3. His home run had an exit velocity of 105 MPH and traveled 396 feet. Fletcher is now 15 for his last 34 at the plate and has really been squaring up the baseball.

Buddy Kennedy drew a walk and hit four balls between 96 and 100 MPH. Of those four batted balls, he finished with two extra base hits, a ground ball double play, and a flyout. His seventh inning triple was a fly ball that landed in triple's alley in Greater Nevada Field and his double was a liner to straightaway right field that one-hopped the wall.
Double-A Amarillo
Jordan Lawlar provided two huge knocks, both coming to the opposite field. Lawlar drove a 96 MPH fastball out over the plate for a three-run home run as part of Amarillo's seven-run eighth inning on a shot that cleared the entire berm area down the right field line. In the 10th inning, he took an 0-2 fastball up and hit a liner down the right field line for a walk-off single.

Deyvison De Los Santos provided three hits and a walk. His eighth inning singled tied the game at 11-11 and set up Lawlar's heroics two innings later. He reached out to hit a 2-2 breaking ball through a drawn-in infield.

Low-A Visalia
Joe Elbis fired 3.1 scoreless innings on three hits, no walks, and two strikeouts. After a bit of a skittish first inning that included a hit batter and a pair of wild pitches, Elbis settled down to deliver a clean second inning and pitched out of a jam in the third after the first two batters reached. He was able to land his slider for called strikes and used both the slider and curveball to get some swings and misses to right-handed batters. Both strikeouts came on breaking balls, one swinging and one looking.
