The San Diego Padres have dealt with a deluge of injuries this season, and that's played a significant role in them being currently on the outside looking in as far as the postseason is concerned.

The pitching staff is currently contending with starter Michael Wacha being out because of arm fatigue, and things don't look promising for another member of the staff.

The prognosis is not positive for Adrian Morejon, who last pitched for the Friars on July 15.

The reliever has been dealing with a knee injury of late, and it's a setback that may keep him out for the rest of the season, according to Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune.

"Adrián Morejón (knee) still is not throwing in Arizona. Given the time left in the season and the need for him to get built back up, the left-hander could have a hard time pitching again for the Padres this season." (via Kevin Acee)

Knee injuries are definitely not the type to be taken lightly, and it's a significant setback for the lefty.

Morejon had a solid 2022 season for San Diego, pitching to a 4.24 ERA over 26 appearances last season.

Things hadn't gone well for him this year though, as he'd put up a 7.00 ERA in just eight trips to the mound for the Padres in this campaign.

There was hope though that he could become a more relied upon arm for the taxed San Diego bullpen, but it doesn't look like that will happen, given both the nature of the injury and that there are roughly only two months left in the regular season.

Looking at the bigger picture, it's yet another tough blow for an underperforming Padres team, who currently sit six games back in the race for the final NL Wild Card spot.

Hopefully, Morejon is able to get healthy enough to be able to return this season, but it doesn't seem like that will be the case.
