The San Diego Padres continue to watch as a number of their former players either excel or fail with their current teams and potentially find new homes in the process. Will Myers is the latest addition to this growing list and Padres fans may remember his eight seasons with them as he stuck through the best and worst years.

Myers found his way to the Cincinnati Reds in the 2022 free agency period after his role shrunk in one of the Friars' most successful seasons in franchise history. Unfortunately, he has not been present for majority of Cincinnati's recent climb to first place in the NL Central due to a slew of injuries.

But after a mediocre rehab stint, the Reds have opted to release him and he will hit free agency again. This news was first shared by the Reds' Twitter account. The #Reds today returned from a rehab assignment, reinstated from the 10-day injured list and designated for assignment OF Wil Myers.

In his final season with the Friars, Myers was only able to play in 77 games and batted .261 to go with seven homers. He did become a huge part of the team during his prime years and even made an All-Star team in 2016.

We will never forget Myers' time with the Padres but the big question now is: Will San Diego consider bringing him back. In the 37 games that he played with the Reds, he batted just .189 and posted an OPS of .541. However, it's also important to remember he was rarely at full health due to his discovery of kidney stones and then a left shoulder sprain.

Maybe the Padres believe that he'll be able to turn into a productive option yet again as they are familiar with his game. We shall keep all of you posted!
