Padres News: Juan Soto Not Ready to Promise Elite Offense Just Yet

In this story:

Juan Soto has been working day and night to return to that same star that the San Diego Padres traded for last season. With numbers down all across the board other than his total amount of walks, he was starting to prove to be a negative on offense above all else.

However, this recent stretch could be a sign of light at the end of the tunnel for him and Padres fans. His BA is up from .178 to .222 over his last five matches and he's also been able to garner hits in all of those appearances. Soto has taken majority of the heat from the Friars community during the team's 16-15 start, but it is a long season and we're starting to get some flashes of what a comfortable version of him will look like.

There have been so many questions regarding his batting stance, techniques, and even his mentality whenever he steps up to the plate. Something has been off with the Padres' offense as a whole this year but a tide certainly shifted after their six home run outing in Mexico City.

Xander Bogaerts still leads the roster by far when it comes to BA with a .304 as Manny Machado is second with .235. However, Soto is looking to climb the list once again if this production continues.

But even though this slew of games is the best that the 24-year-old slugger has performed all season, he is not guaranteeing that the hot streak will continue.

“I don’t want to say it’s coming,” said Soto. “I have said that a million times and it hasn’t come yet. So I will just keep saying that I’ve been working the right way. I’ve been doing a lot of things to help myself to get the confidence to go back and do the right things, and I feel good right now.”

Hopefully this is just him not trying to jinx what he has going on right now because the Padres have a big series against the Los Angeles Dodgers coming up and a full-strength Soto would go a long way.
