The last thing that Padres fans needed was to get more negative injuries surrounding any of their players. At that, it would've been horrible if anything further was revealed after Juan Soto left a Spring training match early with a strain to his oblique.

Immediately, Bob Melvin and the rest of the coaching staff wanted to have him evaluated to ensure that nothing was serious about the strain to their star slugger. We have received nothing but positive updates since then and Soto's MRI came back with nothing else shown so that was the best result possible.

It appears that the 24-year-old All-Star does not want to miss any more time on the field than he has to. Despite not being allowed to get action at the bat just yet, he was captured in workouts with the Friars' trainers getting work in at his natural outfield position.

It has only been a couple of days since he was first diagnosed with a strained oblique so this is a great sign of a smooth recovery. With the season opener around the corner, the Padres will need to have their roster as healthy as possible.

Soto has been locked in all offseason and showcased some great play during the Cactus League. In the 5 games that he suited up, he posted a slash line of .571/.600/1.00 and also connected on a home run.

ESPN ranked him as the sixth best player heading into the 2023 and he certainly will look to build off this momentum.
