As the 2023 season continues, the San Diego Padres' struggles have started to get louder and louder. It seemed like a small blip early on but as the calendar flips into July, they remain one of the biggest disappointments across baseball.

They have dug themselves into a big hole and need to start climbing out before it’s too late. San Diego entered the season as one of the favorites to win the World Series but they haven’t been able to live up to the pressure of being a team with major expectations, at least so far.

The team only has a few games left before the All-Star break where they can get some rest and refocus on the goal at hand. But star third baseman Manny Machado spoke on the Padres issues and how the team has remained together through it all despite all the talk in the media.

On the year, Machado is only hitting .254 with 11 home runs and 38 runs batted in. It’s been a down year for the Padres infielder but like his teammates, he is remaining positive that he can get going. San Diego’s offense has been crazy inconsistent all season and it has been a major reason for their issues this year.

The Padres find themselves in fourth place within the NL West division and have quite a few teams ahead of them for a potential wild card spot. At this rate, they need to start stringing together wins quickly, otherwise their season could be all but lost.

San Diego has the talent on the roster and should be better than what they have been. But the pressure to win has been a heavy weight on their shoulders all season long and it’s led to them falling in the standings.

If the Padres aren’t able to turn things around, they will go down as one of the biggest letdowns in MLB history and nobody wants to be on that side of history.
