After missing over a season due to injury setbacks, surgeries, and a lot of drama surrounding a suspension, Fernando Tatis Jr. arrived to 2023 Spring Training simply looking to play baseball again. He didn't let the fact that the Padres signed Xander Bohaerts, who plays shortstop just Tatis, get to him nor was he fazed by a slow start at the plate.

The 24-year-old has been nothing but laughs and smiles since he's been in Peoria and it makes sense. At the end of the day, he is still a talented young player who loves the game of baseball despite all of the brutal media coverage over the past year.

El Niño was more than willing to comply with the coaching staff and move to right field when asked. He understands that San Diego is only looking to maximize all of the talent they've gathered over the past few seasons and build a World Series squad. Just like anything else, it's been an adjustment for Tatis but he made an incredible play in the right field on Saturday against the Milwaukee Brewers.

In the top of the second inning with a runner on first and third base, Tatis easily grabbed a fly ball and proceeded to throw a beautiful, one-hop pass that made Joey Wiemer think twice about leaving third base. Thanks to the hose from Tatis, the Padres avoided going down 0-4 on that play and the returning star celebrated with a dance move.

This is exactly what the franchise envisioned when they were first considering the move for Tatis. They have always believed he's possessed the athleticism, baseball iq, and speed to thrive out there.

Friars fans immediately took to Twitter and reacted to Tatis' 1-hop pass.
