Last year at the Deadline, the padres shocked the baseball world when they made the trade to get Juan Soto.

In an absolutely massive trade, they sent 5 young stars over to Washington in order to get Juan Soto and Josh Bell.

This included San Diego's number 1, 3, and 14 prospects along with Mackenzie Gore, who looks like he might be a top of the line starter for Washington, and CJ Abrams who has become a key piece in the Nationals' lineup.

If the Friars become sellers at the Trade Deadline, and Juan Soto becomes available, what could the Padres possibly get in return?

Well for one, they could definitely replenish their farm system with a load of prospects. Or they might look to get a big name for him, and with about one and a half years of control left on his contract, it might be a steal for a team to make a run at him come deadline time.

It won't be the haul that San Diego had to dish out last year, but it could still help the Friars rebuild and retool their farm system.

Who could be potential suitors for Soto?

The Seattle Mariners

The Mariners have just what the Padres need. Young talent and MLB-ready players. Here's what it might look like.

Mariners get: Juan Soto

Padres get: RHP Emerson Hancock (SEA #4), RHP Taylor Dollard (SEA #7), RHP Matt Brash, OF Jonatan Clase (SEA #10)

The Padres get their back end of the rotation help, some bullpen help and also pick up an exciting prospect in Clase. Plus you pair Soto and Julio Rodriguez together in the outfield, that would be exciting to watch.

The St. Louis Cardinals

This would be interesting, because many people think that the Cardinals are going to be sellers at the Deadline this year. They were close to a deal with Soto last year, but it didn't come through. This deal might get done though.

Cardinals get: Juan Soto

Padres get: RHP Tink Hence (STL #2), C Ivan Herrera (STL #6), LHP Connor Thomas (STL #14), RHP Ryan Loutos (STL #23).

The Padres could really have their pick at top pitching prospects from St. Louis, 4 of their top 5, are pitchers, and Herrera is a very bright young star in St. Louis.

The Miami Marlins

It always seems like the Marlins are just one power bat away from being a playoff contender. They could fill that role with Soto, and get back a pretty decent return.

Marlins get: Juan Soto

Padres get: RHP Max Meyer (MIA #1), LHP Dax Fulton (MIA #3), LHP Jake Eder (MIA #4), DH Jorge Soler

This would address the pitching need, and Miami would be able to pair up Juan Soto and Jazz Chisholm Jr.
