Padres Score: SD Loses to Atlanta as Offensive Drought Continues, Weathers Shines

In this story:
Every single game fans of the San Diego Padres believe that this will be the night that their stars wake up and finally see some success at the plate. Unfortunately, this was not the case in Monday's 0-2 loss to the Atlanta Braves where they failed to score once again and only recorded six hits.
Ryan Weathers did his job at the pitching mound but had no help from the batting lineup. He lasted six innings and only two runs on six hits with five strikeouts. Some scary situations with runners on base came through but he was able to get out of them.
Austin Riley did get the best of Weathers in the first inning as he connected on a home run that traveled 359 feet.
Ronald Acuna Jr. also scored in the process.

Getting runners on base was not the issue at all early for San Diego as in the first two innings, seven players made it.
Unfortunately, none were brought in due to Max Fried allowing just four hits.

He was definitely in his zone and his bag of tricks got a smile out of Juan Soto.

Manny Machado was one of the many Friars that struggled to get hits today but he was still on point with his defense.
He fumbled the ball at one point but his razor-sharp instincts allowed him to still get the out.

Weathers found himself giving up a ground ball to left field in the fifth but his infielders ensured that a double play ended the inning.

The Padres just cannot get in any sort of rhythm when it comes to their offense. It's been a consistent issue these recent weeks where in most matches, they find themselves struggling to bring in any runners.
Juan Soto has assured that he believes his hits will come sooner rather than later but San Diego needs them immediately. Fernando Tatis Jr. is set to return soon but it's going to take more than just one player.
Soto did get walked at the bottom of the eighth inning and that put him and Xander Bogaerts on first and second but once again, no luck at bringing them in.

The Padres now have dropped two in a row and start off another series against the Braves down 1-0.
They will be back in action again on Tuesday at 6:40 pm PT.
