The San Diego Padres have been completely able to bounce back from a rough start to their 2023 season and win their final two games in their first season series against the Colorado Rockies. They enjoyed a 3-1 victory on Sunday afternoon.

Fans were mainly frustrated with the Friars in those initial matches because not only was the pitching inconsistent but for all of the hype that their slugging talent was getting in the offseason, it was seemingly nonexistent.

However, the narrative is back to normal and even though the likes of Manny Machado and Juan Soto have yet to get back to their usual raking, other teammates stepped up in the process.

Coming off a down season at the plate, Grisham looks to prove all of his doubters wrong and he's on the right track after connecting on a solo home run to give the Friars their first scratch.

And Xander Bogaerts, what else is there to talk about other than the fact that he's been truly incredible so far. Anybody that mocked San Diego for paying him what they did doesn't have much to argue right now. He followed up Saturday's home run with yet another one in this inning that also brought Jose Azocar to home plate.

This would be the Padres' final run of the day but that did not hurt them. Even though Ryan McMahon hit one out the park at the top of the seventh, the Rockies failed to score at any other time.

Seth Lugo on a masterclass performance at the mound in his first game with San Diego and stayed there for seven innings. McMahon's run was the only one he allowed and he made sure to not rack up a huge pitch count.

Your Padres are set to hit the field again tomorrow against the Arizona Diamondbacks at Petco Park. First pitch is scheduled for 6:40 pm PT.
