Things continue to spiral completely out of control for this 2023 San Diego Padres squad and it is almost like they are trying to make the second half of the season one of the biggest challenges we've ever seen in American sports.

This weekend series against the Chicago Cubs has been quite interesting to say the least as they are a squad trying to find their identity this year as well. Their Friday matchup saw neither squad really dominate on offense and Chicago squeezed out a 2-1 victory.

San Diego's bats then came alive and gave the fanbase hope as they strung together a solid 6-0 win on Saturday. But things came crashing down once again Sunday as the Friars went out sad as they allowed Chicago to garner seven runs while only posting one themselves.

Juan Soto had himself an electric month of May and he was looking like the same superstar that the Padres' front office saw in Chicago and pulled off a blockbuster trade for. However, he has disappeared once again in this Cubs series posting just a .111 batting average and one hit over the past three games.

The 24-year-old superstar has heard it all from the media this season as they hate him one day and love him the next. It seems like he's growing quite frustrated with everything the squad is enduring and just hopes things get better.

“It’s pretty tough,” Soto said. “We try our best to pick up our pitching staff. After Weathers came out, they did a good job. They tried to hold us as much as they can. … It’s pretty frustrating. We just couldn’t help the team as much as we can. But it is what it is. We start tomorrow.”

The Padres have one more game against Chicago in this series... hopefully they can at least walk away with a tie.
