Padres vs. Brewers: How to Watch, Predictions and More

San Diego is still seeking its first Cactus League victory.

The San Diego Padres host the Milwaukee Brewers at Peoria Sports Complex today looking to win their first Cactus League game after back-to-back losses to the Los Angeles Dodgers to begin the exhibition season.

The Padres were outscored 18-2 in the two losses.

It's a "home game" for the Padres, so their lineup will feature a number of regulars:

Right-hander Pedro Avila will begin his quest to nail down a spot in the San Diego Padres' rotation. The 27-year-old Venezuelan went 2-2 with a 3.22 ERA in 14 games (six starts) with the Padres last season.

Veteran left-hander Rob Zastryzny is scheduled to start for the Milwaukee Brewers in their first Cactus League game.

First pitch is scheduled for 12:10 p.m. PT.

How to Watch

Neither the Brewers nor the Padres are sending a broadcast crew to the game, so radio is the only option.

KWFN (97.3-FM) will air the game in San Diego. The Brewers' feed (WTMJ) is also available via the MLB app.

Predictions

The Padres have to win at some point. They've also gotten two games under their belt (Milwaukee has none), and will have the home fans behind them on what should be a robust weekend crowd.

Final score: Padres 8, Brewers 3

More

Jackson Merrill is getting another start in left field for the Padres. Among the top prospects in baseball, Merrill was drafted and developed as a shortstop but is trying left field, where the Padres need more help. He made a diving catch Thursday against the Dodgers and will look to continue his development.

Avila has been in the organization for years, mostly as a relief pitcher, but showed flashes of potential in six starts last season. With the Padres' rotation depth lacking, he could move up the pecking order behind veterans Yu Darvish and Joe Musgrove with a strong spring training.
