Phillies Control Their Own Destiny as Next Four Games Define Season

Today is the last home game of the 2021 regular season for the Philadelphia Phillies.
No more views of the silhouette of the Philadelphia skyline backdropped by a beautiful cotton candy sky (which can be seen perfectly from Section 420.)
No more ice cream in Phillie Phanatic themed helmets. No more illumination of the liberty bell followed by cheers from the Citizens Bank Park crowd after a Phillies win.
That’s right. No more of the glorious sounds and sights of baseball in South Philadelphia until April…that is unless the Phillies want to change that.
And since the San Diego Padres have subsequently crashed and burned in their current series with the Atlanta Braves, they have not been able to help the Phils too much in the standings.
So Philadelphia’s fate solely rests in their hands this week, and it will all be determined by a contentious three-game series with the Braves on the road beginning on Tuesday.
The Phillies must continue to be resilient and keep their eyes on the ultimate prize: bringing postseason baseball back to Philadelphia.
Bryce Harper, Jean Segura, and Andrew McCutchen have all voiced their desire to participate in the playoffs, particularly in Philadelphia, because there’s nothing quite like Red October.
And as much of a challenge as it might be to make a reality, they do have a real chance to revive that playoff baseball atmosphere that Philadelphia has so dearly missed.
A chance to keep those nights at Citizens Bank Park alive, equipped with rally towels and all.
