Nathan Lowe drove in Marcus Semien to give the Texas Rangers a walk-off 4-3 over the St. Louis Cardinals on Monday night at Globe Life Field.

In a rare interleague visit by St. Louis – these trips will become more common with the schedule change – the Rangers ran their winning steak to four and stayed undefeated on their six-game homestand. Texas (39-20) continued their record start and also own a seven-game winning streak at home.

The Cardinals (25-36) had yet to play at the park that opened in 2020 and the two clubs hadn’t met since 2019.

In the afternoon, the Rangers transferred ace Jacob deGrom to the 60-day injured list. In evening, last year’s ace delivered.

Martín Pérez didn’t get the win, but he was in position to do so after working seven innings and allowing just one unearned run on three hits. The 32-year-old lefty, unbeaten in his last 10 starts (5-0), rebounded from a subpar outing (six earned runs, 4 2/3 innings) last week at the Detroit Tigers.

Semien started the game-winning surge in the ninth by drawing a one-out walk against reliever Genesis Cabrera. Corey Seager followed with a bloop single that fell in shallow left, setting up Lowe’s deciding single to left.

Texas has two walk-off wins this season.

The Rangers overcame a 1-0 deficit with three runs in the bottom of the second off St. Louis starter Adam Wainwright. Ezequiel Duran, Leody Taveras and Semien each drove in runs.

Semien extended his career-high hitting and on-base streak to 24 and 32 games, respectively.

The Cardinals tied the game with two runs in the eighth off rookie reliever Grant Anderson. Nolan Arenado’s double off the wall in left – Duran nearly made the catch – tied the game, but the Rangers caught a break as Tommy Edman was caught in a rundown at home.

The Rangers go for the series win Tuesday night, with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Dane Dunning (4-1, 2.06) goes for Texas, while the Cardinals counter with Matthew Liberatore (1-1, 4.91).
