Texas Rangers Trio Among Hank Aaron Award Finalists

Adolis Garcia, Corey Seager and Marcus Semien are in the running for the award given to the American League's best offensive player.

Three Texas Rangers players are among the American League finalists for the Hank Aaron Award, given in each league to the best overall offensive player in each league.

The winners are determined by a combination of votes from a panel of Hall of Famers and a fan vote.

The three Rangers that are among the finalists are second baseman Marcus Semien, shortstop Corey Seager and outfielder Adolis García.

New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge won the 2022 Hank Aaron Award for the AL.

Corey Seager and Adolis Garcia both set career highs for home runs in 2023.

García had a career-best season at the plate, despite missing a couple of weeks in September due to a knee injury. He set career highs in runs scored (108), homers (39), RBIs (107), walks (65), on-base percentage (.328) and slugging percentage (.508). He made his second All-Star Game appearance, started for the first time and also led the Rangers in home runs and RBI.

Seager missed what amounts two nearly two months of the season due to a hamstring pull and a thumb injury. But he still had the most productive season he’s ever had at the plate and nearly won the American League batting title.

His .327 batting average was 82 points higher than a season ago, his first with the Rangers. He led the AL with 42 doubles and matched his career high with 33 home runs. He led Texas in batting average, on-base percentage and slugging percentage.

Semien started every game for the Rangers in 2023 and led the AL with 185 hits and 122 runs as the Rangers’ leadoff hitter. His 100 RBI matched an AL record for most RBI produced by a leadoff hitter in a season. He had 29 home runs, an .826 OPS and made the All-Star team for the second time.
