Stars Are Bright, Deep In The Heart Of Texas Rangers Farm System, Which Remains Ranked Among MLB’s Best

The Texas Rangers have two of the top 10 prospects in baseball and a farm system that is among the best in the game.

For the fifth consecutive cycle, the Texas Rangers have a top-10 farm system.

According to MLB Pipeline’s 2024 preseason rankings, the Rangers have the seventh-best farm system, including four top 100 prospects.

The Rangers rebuilt their farm system, and it’s part of the reason they won the World Series in 2023.

Going back to the 2022 preseason, the Rangers were ranked No. 9, followed by a No. 6 midseason ranking. In 2023, the Rangers ranked seventh in the preseason and No. 10 in the midseason.

The Rangers’ organization provided fruit in various ways last season. Josh Jung, a former first-round pick, played his first full season and became the first Rangers rookie to start in an All-Star game. Evan Carter was called up in September and became a starter during the club's postseason run.

The Rangers also used three of their top prospects — Luisangel Acuña, Tekoah Roby, and Thomas Saggese in trades to acquire pitching for their stretch run. Those three young players yielded Jordan Montgomery, Max Scherzer, and Chris Stratton.

Carter remains the Rangers’ top-ranked prospect at No. 5 overall, as he hasn’t spent the necessary 45 days in the Majors to graduate from the rankings. He should be the Rangers’ Opening Day left fielder.

Right behind him at No. 6 is Wyatt Langford, who has already hit four spring training home runs and is making a strong case to make the 26-man roster.

Along with Carter and Langford, the Rangers have two other Top 100 prospects in shortstop Sebastian Walcott (No. 71) and Brock Porter (No. 88).

Walcott and Porter are still at least a season or two from joining the Rangers but have already made an impact.

Walcott was the Rangers’ top international signee in 2023 and reached High-A Hickory in his first season in the system. Porter, who pitched all of last season at Class-A Down East, is entering his second full season of professional baseball.

The rest of the Rangers’ top 10 prospects include pitcher Kumar Rocker, outfielder Anthony Gutierrez, pitcher Jack Leiter, pitcher Jose Corniell, and pitcher Owen White.

Prospects ranked Nos. 11-20 include outfielder Dustin Harris, first baseman Abimelec Ortiz, infielder Cameron Cauley, outfielder Paulino Santana, outfielder Yeison Morrobel, pitcher Emiliano Teodo, infielder Echedry Vargas, pitcher Josh Stephan, pitcher Aidan Curry and pitcher Mitch Bratt.

Prospects ranked Nos. 21-30 include outfielder Aaron Zavala, pitcher Antoine Kelly, pitcher Marc Church, outfielder Braylin Morel, outfielder Marcos Torres, third baseman Gleider Figuereo, pitcher Joseph Montalvo, pitcher Dane Acker, pitcher Izack Tiger and Jesus Lopez.
