Marcus Semien, Josh Jung Key in Texas Rangers Offensive Explosion

In this story:
On a night when Adolis García bombed his way into the record books, the offensive contributions from other Texas Rangers shouldn’t be overlooked in Saturday’s 18-3 rout of the Oakland Athletics.
Five Rangers recorded at least two hits in the season-high 18-hit attack, led by García’s historic 5-for-5 performance, with eight starters reaching base at least once. Texas scored its most runs this season and reached double figures for the sixth time in 20 games.
Rangers manager Bruce Bochy was asked if hitting can be contagious throughout the lineup.
“I think it is,” Bochy said. “You have your gameplan and you try to stay with it and maintain that discipline. These guys, I think they do feed off each other. It does get contagious.”
Marcus Semien went 2-for-3 with two RBI, a walk and two runs. The second baseman is the first player in Washington/Texas franchise history with at least 20 RBI and 20 runs in the first 20 games of the season.
His 20 runs scored are tied for the third-most by a Texas in the first 20 games – 21 by Ian Kinsler (2012)/David Dellucci (2005), and 20 by Darryl Hamilton (1996). Semien leads MLB in runs.
Rookie third baseman Josh Jung extended his career-best 10-game hitting streak with a single in the first inning, He went 2-for-6 on the night and is batting .333 (14-42) over the course of the run, which is the longest active streak for the Rangers and second-longest by this season to Nathaniel Lowe’s 11 from April 4-16.
The American League West-leading Rangers (13-7) were down 2-0 in the first, but countered with 11 runs over their first three innings. Texas has five come-from-behind wins this season, and is 5-1 in its last six games and 9-3 in the last 12.
The Rangers go for the series win Sunday against Oakland behind Jacob deGrom. First pitch at Globe Life Field is set for 1:35 p.m.
