Three Texas Rangers prospects took significant drops in Baseball America’s Top 30 organizational prospects, released as a re-rank in early June.

The re-rank was based on a variety of criteria, as Rangers prospects moved up and moved down the board. These are prospects who were ranked in the preseason Top 30 and moved up in the re-rank.

Here are the three Rangers prospects that made the biggest drops in the Top 30 and what factored into their new rankings.

LHP Mitch Bratt (-5, No. 19)

Bratt was the Rangers’ fifth-round pick in 2021 and the Canadian native got some valuable experience pitching for his country in the World Baseball Classic. With Class-A Hickory, he’s had a solid season so far 2-3 with a 3.09 ERA in 11 games (all starts). He has struck out 51 and walked 11, and that ratio lines up well with that he did last year at Class-A Down East. His drop may be more a product of other players showing greater improvement from year to year while Bratt has remained steady.

SS Cam Cauley (-7, No. 22)

No player dropped in the Top 30 than Cauley. As with Bratt, it’s hard to pin down why. His slash line of .250/.321/.415/.736 in 51 game with Down East line up well with his slash lines with the Arizona Complex League Rangers in 2021, and are a big improvement over his .209/.306/.289/.595 line with Down East in 2022. He’s already tracking career-high power numbers (seven home runs, 28 RBI).

SS Danyer Cueva (-5, No. 23)

Signed out of Venezuela in 2021, he’s already three seasons into his minor league career and just 19 years old. In 51 games with Down East, his slash numbers have been solid — .264/.322/.409/.731 — and his four home runs and 25 RBI are nearly on top of his career numbers set a year ago. Plate discipline has been a problem this season, and he has 72 strikeouts against 16 walks.
