Did the Boston Red Sox give up on a bullpen arm too soon? 

A big storyline for the 2023 Red Sox is their lack of pitching and one of their former relievers has been shining on the West Coast, begging the question of what could have happened if he stayed in Boston. 

Ryan Brasier has been shining out West for the Los Angeles Dodgers, looking back to his 2018 form -- which was a complete turnaround from his time with the Red Sox this season. 

With Boston, Brasier posted a 7.29 ERA with an 18-to-9 strikeout-to-walk ratio, a .286 batting average against, and a 1.57 WHIP in 21 innings pitched across 20 games. 

With Los Angeles, Brasier has a 1.29 ERA, a 17-to-7 strikeout-to-walk ratio, a .147 batting average against, and a 0.81 WHIP in 21 innings pitched across 20 games. 

A complete 180 after changing coasts definitely leaves a bitter taste in Boston's mouth, especially with their dire need for pitching of any kind. 

To add insult to injury, the lack of acquisitions at the trade deadline has appeared to set up the Red Sox for a tough remainder of the season as they chase an American League Wild Card berth.
