In this story:

The Boston Red Sox certainly have a bright future.

Boston currently is one of the hottest teams in all of baseball and has won six straight games and although it certainly, holds one of the Wild Card postseason spots. It's certainly early, but the Red Sox already are in a better spot than they were a year ago.

Things should get even better for the Red Sox in the near future as players like Trevor Story and Adam Duvall eventually return from injury. Boston has plenty of exciting prospects on the way to the big leagues as well and one player who certainly has made the most of the 2023 season so far is young hurler Shane Drohan.

The 24-year-old fireballer currently is playing for the Double-A Portland Sea Dogs, but it wouldn't be surprising if at some point this season we saw him move up to the Triple-A Worcester Red Sox. Drohan has made five starts so far this season for Portland and is 5-0 with a minuscule 0.62 ERA. He has been almost unhittable for the Sea Dogs and has allowed just two runs so far this season in 29 innings pitched.

Drohan has seen his stock rise so much this season already, that he now is ranked as Boston's fifth-best prospect, according to SoxProspects.com. He even is projected to join the big league club in early 2024.

The tall lefty was drafted by the Red Sox in the fifth round of the 2020 MLB June Amateur Draft and quickly has shot up the Boston farm system. Drohan has seen time with the Single-A Salem Red Sox, High-A Greenville Drive, and Double-A Sea Dogs in just three seasons.

Drohan is a hard-throwing lefty who has topped out around 96 miles per hour to go along with a curveball, changeup, and cutter. The 24-year-old at some point -- if he can maintain his current momentum -- could find himself pitching for the Red Sox at Fenway Park. If he can keep up his current pace, he could end up being an important piece in the Boston rotation.

After a tough start to the season, Brayan Bello has shined ever since for the Red Sox. Bello is just 23-years-old so if he could keep things up and Drohan eventually joins the big league club and shines, the Red Sox could have a deadly duo in its future for years to come.
