Stephen Curry knocked down a game-winning jumper with 1.5 seconds left to push Golden State to a 95-93 home win over Dallas on Wednesday night.
The shot capped a dramatic late-game push from the Warriors, who faced a double-digit deficit in the fourth quarter and trailed by six points with 1:25 remaining. The two teams traded endgame blows, with Draymond Green hitting a three-pointer with 49 seconds remaining to put Golden State up one. Monta Ellis, who hit a game-winner against the Blazers on Saturday, split a pair of free throws on the other end, tying the game at 93 and setting the stage for Curry's heroics.
Curry began the possession by milking the clock at the top of the key, using an Andrew Bogut screen to force Dallas to switch on its defensive coverage. Sizing up Shawn Marion after the switch, the fifth-year guard worked his way gradually inside the three-point arc as the clock hit five seconds. Stepping to his right and pulling up as if to launch, Curry instead paused to allow Marion to fly by on the pump-fake before leaning back and to his left to put up an 18-footer. The shot swished in with 1.5 seconds on the clock.
"It was just about getting a good look," Curry said afterwards, according to the Warriors. "What happens after that is just me trying to make a shot."
Golden State celebrated the shot, forgetting that Dallas was out of timeouts, and the Warriors had to quickly scramble to defend a long-distance heave from Jose Calderon that missed the mark as the buzzer sounded.
Curry finished with a game-high 33 points (on 13-for-25 shooting and 6-for-11 from deep), 10 assists, four rebounds and three steals. David Lee added 15 points and 11 rebounds for Golden State.
Ellis and Dirk Nowitzki each scored 21 points for Dallas in a losing effort.
