Jaylen Brown on Celtics’ Bench: ‘They Won Us the Game Tonight'
The Boston Celtics are now one victory away from their 50th after getting back in the win column, defeating the Phoenix Suns 117-107.
The Celtics shot 38.9 percent from distance, thanks to the dominance of Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum, who got going in the second half to help the two lead the way with eight threes together.
Jrue Holiday also made three triples of his own. He finished with 15 points and six assists on 5-7 shooting from the field. Al Horford had a near double-double with nine points and 12 rebounds. He also drilled a clutch three to extend the Celtics' lead back to eight with 1:54 left.
Boston did a good job of limiting the Suns' impact from the three-point line, protecting the perimeter at the other end and limiting the hosts to 9/31 (29 percent) from beyond the arc.
Brown, the Eastern Conference Player of the Week, continued to perform like his All-NBA self with 27 points. The All-Star forward gave Boston's second unit their deserving praise, led by Luke Kornet's dazzling play and Payton Pritchard's production.
"They won us the game tonight," Brown said. "Payton, Luke, Sam (Hauser), their energy, their plays, their effort—they were the reason why we probably won the game tonight."
The Celtics will finish their road trip with a back-to-back in Portland and Utah before heading back home to face the Suns again in Boston.
