Following the Boston Celtics' 120-118 victory over the Toronto Raptors on Friday, wing Jaylen Brown was asked about Boston's willingness this season to sacrifice as individuals and play team basketball. He provided the following response:

"I think it's a new year," Brown said. "I think, one, we're experienced. Another year of experience makes a difference. Two, the way our team is constructed kind of makes things simple. Jrue [Holiday] and K.P. [Kristaps Porzingis] kind of makes things simple....And credit to our coaching staff...I think the coaching has been excellent this year in terms of making sure that we see the game in the way the game should be played."

The scoring averages of the Celtics' four best players speak volumes of the team's buy-in mentality. Jayson Tatum, Brown, Porzingis and Holiday are all averaging three-plus points per game fewer than they did a season ago. Plus, Holiday is averaging the second-fewest points per game of his pro career at 13.1.
