Kendrick Perkins was a guest on The Pat McAfee Show recently, where he addressed his and Joe Mazzulla's recent subtle jabs at one another.

Following the Boston Celtics first home loss in mid-January to the Denver Nuggets, Perkins made some uncalled-for comments regarding Mazzulla's schemes, execution, and play-calling. He called Mazzulla a "birdbrain," saying if you take his brain and put it in a bird, it will start flying backwards.

Perkins was asked on the show if the two had talked since the comment.

"I haven't spoke with Joe Mazzulla, but let me tell you this, I actually love Joe Mazzulla and him firing back," Perkins said. "It's a good thing. He's actually embracing that, and all I'm doing right now is prepping him for what's to come. When he hit adversity especially in the city of champions, Boston. I played there eight and a half years. They're gonna hit adversity, and the media is gonna attack him, the fanbase is gonna attack him throughout seven-game series, and he needs to be prepared for that. You know what I mean? I actually love it."

The former Celtic champion also recently stated how the team needed to post-up more. The other night, Mazzulla trolled back about that comment as well saying they need to do better before saying he was kidding, as Boston is top-two in the NBA when it comes to efficiency and frequency.

Mazzulla has shown the abundance of growth between now and last season for when adversity hits, like when they underperformed last postseason. His growth will be put to the test in the spotlight these final few months of the season.
