Multiple Celtics Stars Uncertain for Tuesday's Tilt vs. Cavaliers
After a 52-point drubbing of the Golden State Warriors on Sunday, the Boston Celtics' tour de force heads out for a five-game road trip.
The team atop the NBA standings, boasting a 48-12 record, is bludgeoning teams lately, riding an 11-game win streak, the longest in the NBA this season, that included winning their last five matchups by an average of 30.2 points.
Up next is a clash against the Cleveland Cavaliers, the third seed in the Eastern Conference. But the hosts of Tuesday's tilt, nine back of Boston in the standings, will be without Donovan Mitchell.
Per the Cavaliers, the five-time All-Star, who has missed Cleveland's last two contests, received a PRP injection to treat his left knee bone bruise. That will sideline him for at least three more games, including this one vs. the C's.
The visitors may also be without some of their star power on Tuesday. After a collision with Draymond Green left him clutching for his left knee before staying in Sunday's steamrolling of the Warriors, the Celtics list Jaylen Brown as questionable due to a left knee contusion.
Kristaps Porzingis has the same status a day in advance of facing Cleveland because of a left quad contusion. He sustained that injury when he took a knee to the thigh during Boston's 138-110 victory vs. the Dallas Mavericks last Friday. That kept him from suiting up against Golden State.
The Celtics have already ruled out Neemias Queta, who hyperextended his right knee while playing with their G League affiliate last Friday.
Joe Mazzulla said during his pregame availability ahead of Sunday's 2022 NBA Finals rematch, "I know he's doing ok. I think he got positive results on it. It's nothing serious," adding that he believes he'll only be out for a week or two.
