Paul Pierce Doesn't Think Los Angeles is Home For Los Angeles Clippers

On a recent episode of Ticket and The Truth, Kevin Garnett asked Paul Pierce whether the Los Angeles Clippers or Los Angeles Lakers “runs LA”. Pierce suggested that the Lakers' championship success makes them the top franchise in the area.

“If I walk into a house and it has 17 pictures of KG [Kevin Garnett] in it, whose house do you think it is? That’s probably KG’s house. When I walk into the Staples Center and they have 17 banners, that’s the [expletive] Lakers’ house.”

Last season, the LeBron James and Anthony Davis-led Lakers competed in the Western Conference Finals. Meanwhile, the Clippers were eliminated in the opening round of the playoffs.

Prior reports state that NBA commissioner Adam Silver is exploring options to expand the league. Two potential locations include Seattle and Las Vegas.

One solution is to relocate the Los Angeles Clippers to Las Vegas. This would allow the NBA to reach Las Vegas without starting a new franchise, while still keeping two expansion spots open for the likes of Seattle, Kansas City, and Montreal.

A relocation would give the Clippers a place to develop their own identity, away from the Lakers-dominated Los Angeles. Las Vegas is a well-populated, untapped market that would be immediately gratified with star power, such as Kawhi Leonard, Paul George, James Harden, and Russell Westbrook.
