In this story:

Wednesday night at TD Garden, the Boston Celtics, already sitting atop the NBA standings, improved to 39-12, earning a 125-117 victory vs. the Atlanta Hawks.

Jayson Tatum registered 20 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists in the win. The five-time All-Star, Jaylen Brown, Derrick White, and Al Horford each registered at least 14 points, six rebounds, and six assists, becoming the fifth foursome in NBA history to do so. It's a feat that hasn't happened since 1973.

But as Boston aims to improve to 25-3 on its parquet, Tatum's status for Friday's game against the Washington Wizards is uncertain. The hosts list the three-time All-NBA selection as questionable for the contest due to a non-Covid illness.

Tatum's new teammates, Xavier Tillman and Jaden Springer, could debut with the Celtics after acquiring the duo to help Boston's pursuit of Banner 18.
