Grant Williams is set to become a restricted free agent over the summer. If the Boston Celtics don’t intend to retain Williams, the Brooklyn Nets could be his next destination.

On Twitter, Mikal Bridges, who was selected to the 2023 NBA All-Defensive First Team, called upon Williams to “save the city” and stated that they “need” him. The tweet includes a photo of Williams wearing a Batman mask.

Williams’ nickname, ‘Batman’, stems from an impressive defensive performance against Nikola Jokic, known as ‘The Joker’, in Boston’s victory against the Denver Nuggets on March 20th of 2022.

Bridges is likely referring to recent air quality issues in New York from Canadian wildfires, joking that a superhero needs to save the city. Regardless, the comedic plea for help indicates there is a friendly relationship between the two players.

With the recent departure of Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, Brooklyn’s front office may decide to submit an offer for Williams. NBA teams can start negotiating with free agents on June 30th at 6 pm EST.
