LA Clippers Player Clarifies Viral Comments

In this story:
In a recent interview with Law Murray of The Athletic, LA Clippers forward Robert Covington made some comments that have been going viral on social media. Telling The Athletic that he has not gotten a chance to talk with Clippers head coach Ty Lue, Covington's comments were picked up by several aggregation pages.
In addition to Covington saying he hadn't spoken to Lue, the Clippers veteran added that he didn't take anything away from what was a strange year for him. These comments were also shared by several different pages, which began creating a perception that there was potentially some friction between Covington and his head coach.
In a series of Tweets on Sunday, Covington clarified some of his comments:
Funny how y’all can twist something I said lol I was specifically talking about having a convo about what happened last year.

Yea I’m glad you got your own take because what I said wasn’t a shot at nobody. I didn’t take anything from the season that I ain’t already been thru when it came to adversity or challenges. Funny how y’all try to put negative content out for likes.

I stand on what I said ten toes. I didn’t learn anything. Because I already been thru that adversity and challenge before in my career. You think that stopped me then, Hell NO. So this ain’t either. You took it how you wanted!!!! Stay the bad guy like you stated in yo video

For reference, here were the questions and answers in Covington's initial interview with The Athletic:
Murray: "You’ve had a few months away from the end of the season. What do you kind of take away from last season and what kind of feedback did you get?"
Covington: "I didn’t take nothing from last year. Last year didn’t go how I expected, so I didn’t take nothing from it. I just wash it away and start over, a new year. That’s just my mentality of it. … It’s nothing that could be talked about. I mean, I really haven’t had much feedback besides, you know, what I’ve been doing now. I haven’t talked about last year. I’ve put that behind me and focused on right now and moving forward. That’s what it’s all about. Can’t dwell on what happened last year, whatever the case may be. It happened. So I’m just gonna wash, move forward."
Murray: Have you gotten a chance to talk to T. Lue?
Covington: No.
Murray: Do you think that conversation will happen at some point?
Covington: If it do, it do. If it don’t, I won’t dwell on it. I focus on control, what I control, and I go out and do my job. Whatever happens, happens. I haven’t talked to T (Lue) since the season ended.
