Draymond Green Has Reason To Pull For Celtics’ Comeback Against Miami Heat

Draymond Green is cheering for the Boston Celtics to advance to the NBA Finals

If there’s one person who knows about rallying from playoff deficits, it’s Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green.

On his "The Draymond Green Show" podcast, he said he is rooting for the Boston Celtics to defeat the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference Finals. The Heat lead the series 3-2 but Green is showing optimism.

“Can they close the deal? I don’t know, man, that’s an interesting one,” Green said “The first team to come back from a 3-0 deficit? We would love to see it, wouldn’t we?”

But his take didn’t come from a fan perspective. Instead, he’s hoping the comeback would bury some unfortunate history.

“Maybe I won’t have to hear about 3-1 anymore if this team comes back from 3-0,” Green continued. “You could throw the 3-1 in the dirt. I’m sick of it. It would be a much better story for me personally. It would be a much better story.”

Green is referring to when the Warriors lost the last three games to the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2016. Not only did the Warriors become the first team to blow a 3-1 lead in the NBA Finals, it also spoiled their record 73-win season.

After the loss, most of the blame was put on Green for getting into an altercation with LeBron James late in Game 4. It was resulted in Green being suspended Game 5.

Many believe the Warriors would have won had the suspension never occurred.
