Facebook Meme Pokes Fun At NBA Finals Performance By Miami Heat’s Jimmy Butler Being Compared To Michael Jordan
The Jimmy Butler memes continue to flow after the Miami Heat were eliminated by the Denver Nuggets in five games. One of the latest was a Facebook post by Hoops Nation comparing Butler to Michael Jordan’s son, Marcus Jordan.
For years, Butler was compared to Jordan because of their shot selection and killer mentality. Now, Butler is the middle of jokes after underperforming in the Finals.
He averaged 21.6 points on 41 percent shooting on the NBA’s biggest stage, prompting fans to subject him to mockery. His Game 5 performance was the nail in the coffin, shooting 28 percent from the field with a game-losing turnover and ill-timed 3-pointer. His postgame interviews didn’t help, as his guarantees for victory were seen as overconfident in the midst of lackluster performances.
His efforts this season should still be commended. He was largely the reason the team ascended so far in the postseason, and recency has many forgetting the amazing games that had him in the same echelon as Jordan.
Hopefully, Miami can regroup and compete for a championship next season.
