One month ago, the Miami Heat were unable to defeat the New York Knicks in the absence of star forward Julius Randle. Fast forward, they take Game 1 of the eastern semifinals in New York under the same circumstances. A Heat rally against their rivaled Knicks raised fans’ confidence to a new level.

“Man, this team has shown so much heart in these playoffs,” user HeatCulture said. Jimmy is tough for staying in the game, hopefully his ankle is fine for next game. Lowry was the MVP, masterclass in the 4Q, Love was huge in that 3Q run and Bam stepped up in the 2nd half. 5 down, 11 more to go.”

Jimmy Butler once again led the Heat with 25 points, 11 rebounds and four assists.

Okay, it wasn’t the Butler masterclass we all saw the past weeks. However, many fans were actually satisfied the Heat won without an outworldly performance from Butler.

The Heat were down at the half, which would usually frustrate the fanbase. However, the Heat playing this lackluster and only being down five at halftime left many feeling optimistic.

That optimism was justified by the second half product, where Miami turned up the heat to build a lead they never lost. Heat veterans Kevin Love and Kyle Lowry received a lot of praise as well, showcasing their playoff playmaking late. Lowry’s criticism all season is finally being met with admiration after moving to the bench.

The Heat return to New York for Game 2 Tuesday night.
