Lionel Messi Signing With Inter Miami Just Adds To Epic South Florida Sports Year With Heat, Panthers In Finals

Soccer legend Lionel Messi set to join Inter Miami team

Lionel Messi, hailed as the greatest soccer player of all time, is reportedly set to sign with Inter Miami in Major League Soccer.

This move is the biggest signing South Florida has seen since LeBron James came to the Miami Heat in 2010. James was arguably the best player in the league at the time, but a lack of help disallowed him to acquire championships. Upon joining Miami, he paired with Hall of Famers Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh to win two titles in four Finals trips.

Unlike James though, Messi is coming off a FIFA World Cup Finals victory with Argentina after defeating France in 2022. Still, the two are hailed as all-time greats in their respective sports, and now Miami can brag that they had both of them play in their cities.

This move, paired with potential championships from the Heat and Florida Panthers, is bound to have South Florida sports fans amped up.
