Miami Heat Reportedly Have Sent Trade Offer To Portland Trailblazers In Deal Centered Around Tyler Herro And Multiple First-Round Picks

The Miami Heat’s offer may be the only one on the table for the Trailblazers

Last night, the Miami Heat made an official trade offer to the Portland Trailblazers for Damian Lillard.

The deal is centered around a package of Tyler Herro and three first-round picks according to Aaron Fentress of The Oregonian. It was reported earlier this week that Portland had little interest in Herro, making the three first-round picks the primary point of interest in this deal.

“I’m told that right now Miami has three firsts, [Tyler] Herro, filler and maybe a young player already like willing to go with that," Fentress said on the Blazer Focused podcast

These first-round picks, while valuable assets, are projected to be towards the end of the first round. If the Heat successfully acquire Lillard, they undoubtedly become one of the frontrunners to win the Finals next season. As a result, the first-round picks would be less valuable than they initially appeared.

The Blazers are reportedly looking for four first-round picks and two valuable players in exchange for Lillard. Miami has offered close to this package, but are one first-round pick short. The Blazers may also be left with no choice because most teams have lost the desire to trade for him after reports came out that Lillard would not report for training camp anywhere else.

While Herro is at the center of the proposed trade, it is highly likely that other players would be included as well. They include sharpshooter Duncan Robinson or veteran point guard Kyle Lowry. If the Heat can manage to retain promising young talents Jaime Jaquez Jr. and Nikola Jovic in this trade, it would serve as a testament to the exceptional skills of Heat team president Pat Riley.
