Miami Heat guard Tyler Herro is set to take the court tonight for the first time since his injury in Game 1 against the Milwaukee Bucks last postseason.

Herro performed well in the preseason, but their regular season opener against the Detroit Pistons will provide a true test. The Pistons backcourt of Cade Cunningham and Jaden Ivey matches up well against the Heat.

Ivey and Herro are young score-first shooting guards, making them the matchup of the night.

Herro sustained a broken hand in last year’s playoffs but had the best regular season of his career. He averaged 20.1 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 4.2 assists on 43.9 percent shooting. In the preseason, Herro played well but struggled with his efficiency. With guard Josh Richardson sidelined, Herro may take on a larger playmaking role.

Detroit’s sophomore guard has high expectations following an impressive rookie campaign. In his rookie year, Ivey averaged 16.3 points and 5.2 assists on 41.6 percent shooting. Cunningham played 12 games last season before sustaining a season-ending injury. Cunningham's return will allow Ivey to thrive on the offensive end.

Their similar play styles will prove a key factor in who comes out victorious. The Heat are favored by most following their NBA Finals run but are not known for dominance in the regular season.
