Miami Heat’s Tyler Herro Talks About His Big Fourth Quarter Against the New York Knicks

Tyler Herro once led the Miami Heat during the clutch against New York Knicks

The fourth quarter for the Miami Heat lately has become "Tyler Time."

As in when guard Tyler Herro takes over.

Herro had another huge fourth quarter by scoring 14 points to give Miami a late boost. The win helped the Heat move closer to the No. 6 seed in the Eastern Conference standings.

“It’s the time to be aggressive,” said Herro, who finished with 22 points on 8 of 13 shooting. “The fourth quarter’s winning time, and that’s when my scoring is needed the most.”

Herro has been clutch throughout the season in closing time. He spoke last year about wanting to perform in critical moments, especially in crucial games. The playoff implications and highly competitive feel made the Knicks win feel like a postseason matchup.

He's averaged 5.8 points in the fourth quarter this season but picked it up of late. He had 12 fourth-quarter points in Sunday's victory against the Detroit Pistons

“It feels amazing,” Herro said. “This is what we worked for. A great environment like tonight, the playoff atmosphere, a must-win for us, and we were able to come out with a win.”

The Heat have struggled with 3-point shooting this season but games like these showcase what team they can be if they hit their shots from that range. Miami is 6-1 since the All-Star break when shooting at least 40 percent from downtown.

“We can be very dangerous,” Herro said. “We got a bunch of great players on this team that can fill it up. Shooters, playmakers, we got everything. If we keep shooting the ball like this, I think we continue to get better every single game and we’ll be alright.”
