NBA Twitter Reacts to Pat Riley Saying The Miami Heat Need Another 25-Point Scorer

Miami Heat president Pat Riley said the team needs more offensive production from their star players.

Miami Heat team president Pat Riley believes the roster is competitive enough for a potential championship. However, he did emphasize Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro stepping up offensively to aid superstar Jimmy Butler.

“I don’t know who it’s going to be, Bam or Tyler, somebody is going to be a 25-point a game scorer and we need that,“ Riley said to the Miami Herald. "Somebody else is going to be in the 20s or 19 or 21. But we need those three guys to play at a high level and to play together as much as they can for us to have a great regular season and a great playoff run. They’re all capable. I’ve seen some signs of Bam and Tyler in the preseason that I really like.”

NBA Twitter had plenty of jokes in reference to Riley missing out on high-level scorers the past offseasons.

The Heat had the opportunity to acquire Damian Lillard, Bradley Beal or Donovan Mitchell the past two summers. All these stars averaged at least 23 points the last two seasons, and all vocalized their desires to go to Miami. And yet, all of them are currently in different jerseys.

Riley establishing high standards is understandable to motivate them, and to avoid trading for a big star. However, he seemingly keeps asking for more out of his current players than getting pieces that already have the skillsets he demands.

That's no knock on Herro or Adebayo either. They are essential players, but asking them to score 25 every night may be above their weight.

But honestly, with all the talk around Miami this offseason, Adebayo and Herro may have the fuel they need to reach Riley's standard.
