Miami Heat All-Star center Bam Adebayo is having the best offensive season of his career. Much of it may be thanks to Heat legend Dwyane Wade.

The Heat won their seventh consecutive game against the Brooklyn Nets on Thursday. Adebayo recorded 20 points, seven rebounds, and two steals on 53.3 percent shooting.

"I actually got it from D. Wade, which is funny. When I was on the team with D. Wade, I would always rush,” Adebayo said about his improved patience. “D. Wade pulled me to the side one day and was like, let the defense make the mistake slow down, be patient, and literally, it was just like a wake-up call for me. Obviously, the evolution of that with my game, and being more aggressive, and realizing they will make a mistake."

Wade and Adebayo spent less than two seasons together, but it’s clear his impact was felt by the rookie. His newfound patience is leading to a career-high 7.3 free throw attempts on over 80 percent shooting.

Adebayo’s offensive improvement is a key reason for the Heat’s recent success. He is averaging a career-high 22.7 points along with 10.2 rebounds, 1.5 steals, and 1.3 blocks.

Miami is taking on Zach Lavine and the Chicago Bulls on Saturday and Monday.
