Eastern Conference Recaps, March 28: Atlanta Hawks Defeat Cleveland Cavaliers Despite Donovan Mitchell’s Huge Night

The Atlanta Hawks were able to survive the Cleveland Cavaliers’ fourth-quarter rally.

Led by Dejounte Murray’s 29 points, the Hawks secured a 120-118 victory against the Cleveland Cavaliers. The most important shot was the fadeaway jumper over Caris LeVert to put them in winning position.

Trae Young finished with 16 points and 10 assists while Onyeka Okongwu led all reserves with 21 points. Donovan Mitchell led the Cavaliers with 44 points, the most he scored since Mar. 1. Darius Garland had 27 points and Evan Mobley had 20 points and 15 rebounds.

OTHER NOTES:

-With Bradley Beal sidelined a fourth straight game due to a knee injury, Kristaps Porzingis recorded 32 points and 13 rebounds to help the Washington Wizards grab a 130-111 victory against the Boston Celtics.

Jayson Tatum led the Celtics with 28 points and Jaylen Brown had 18.

NEXT WIZARDS GAME AGAINST THE HEAT: Apr. 7 in Washington

-P.J. Washington’s career-high 43 points led the Charlotte Hornets to a 137-134 victory against the Oklahoma City Thunder. It was the most he scored since Feb.28, 2021. Theo Maledon had 19 points and Svi Mykhailiuk scored 18.

With Shai Gilgeous-Alexander sidelined with an ankle, Isaiah Joe recorded a career-high 33 points while Josh Giddey had a career-high 31 points and 10 rebounds.
