Miami Heat's Bam Adebayo and Sixers' Josh Richardson exchange friendly barbs on social media after dunk

When it happened, all Miami Heat center Bam Adebayo could do was smile at his former teammate.

He was that pumped after dunking over close friend Josh Richardson during the Heat’s overtime victory against the Philadelphia 76ers Saturday at AmericanAirlines Arena. Their playful feud spilled over to social media when Adebayo posted a picture of the poster on Instagram.

Adebayo wrote in the caption “bounce back” and then “#HMMMM.” It was a reference to a secret locker-room club they were in as teammates with the Heat.

Richardson then chimed in on the post, saying “Aye bro delete my number.”

“He’s still one of my best friends,” Adebayo said after the game. "That's never going to change."

Adebayo and Richardson were teammates for two seasons in Miami before the break up. Richardson was traded to Philadelphia for Jimmy Butler in the offseason. The two are so close Adebayo kept Richardson’s locker name plate. It sits in Adebayo’s locker.

Both have adjusted in their roles. Richardson has been a key member for the Sixers, averaging 14.9 points and 3.5 rebounds in 27 starts. Adebayo is in the middle of a All-Star caliber season after the Heat decided to make him a primary player. He is averaging 15.6 points and 10.5 rebounds for the Heat, who are No. 2 in the Eastern Conference standings at 24-8. Adebayo was named conference player of the week after recording two triple-doubles last week.

“I’m super happy for him,” Richardson said. “Bam, outside of basketball is a great person. Even if we weren’t playing, we’d still be best friends.”
