NBA Top Five Performances, April 7: Coby White’s Double Double Lifted Chicago Bulls in Eliminating Dallas Mavericks

TOP PLAYERS OF THE DAY:
When the Dallas Mavericks acquired Kyrie Irving from the Brooklyn Nets in February, there were some placing championship aspirations on them. Nobody would’ve thought their season would end this early, let alone at the hands of Chicago Bulls guard Coby White. But here we are, as White poured on 24 points, 11 assists and seven rebounds to help the Bulls rally against Dallas.
Chicago was resting DeMar DeRozan and Zach LaVine, paving the way for White to have a team-leading performance. Bulls coach Billy Donovan said it was “good to see him be aggressive shooting it and get downhill.”
Meanwhile, Dallas’ season is over, leaving a much anticipated offseason to come to fruition.
“Being eliminated isn’t something we wanted, and we got some work to do this summer,” Mavericks coach Jason Kidd said. “Things happen. It wasn’t our season, we’ve gotta learn from this and we’ll get better.”
OTHERS:
- Boston Celtics forward Sam Hauser dazzled against the Toronto Raptors with 26 points on 6 of 12 shooting from 3-point range.
- The Brooklyn Nets clinched the sixth seed in the Eastern Conference behind another superstar performance from Mikal Bridges. Bridges had 22 points against the Orlando Magic despite shooting just 8.3 percent from 3-point range.
- Jaren Jackson Jr. had 36 points, three blocks and four rebounds to lead the Memphis Grizzlies in a blowout loss against the Milwaukee Bucks.
- Despite the Atlanta Hawks’ overtime loss to the Philadelphia 76ers, Trae Young had 27 points and dished out a career-high 20 assists.
