The Miami Heat will look at free agents and potential buyout players after failing to make any acquisitions at the trade deadline earlier this month.

One of the most prominent players in the buyout market is veteran point guard John Wall. Wall most recently played for the Los Angeles Clippers, averaging 11.4 points, 5.2 assists and 2.7 rebounds. His addition to the Clippers left many believing they could be a championship contender, but injuries kept Wall sidelined for the past month. He was traded to the Houston Rockets in a three-deal with the Rockets and Grizzlies. Houston waived Wall shortly after the trade.

The Heat could acquire Wall to give the team help off the bench. Miami has the second-lowest scoring bench in the league, averaging just 27.1 points per game. The lack of contribution from their backups contributes to their league-worst scoring unit. Wall will also bring veteran leadership to help the younger core of players on Miami’s bench.

Wall has been dealing with injury but the Heat will look for any option to boost their team status. They are seventh in the Eastern Conference after a blowout loss to the Brooklyn Nets Wednesday night. To keep up with other contenders in the conference, Miami will need some additions. If the Heat do pursue Wall, they will be in competition with the Chicago Bulls and Milwaukee Bucks.
