Western Conference Recaps, March 7: Kyrie Irving’s Late Run Gives The Dallas Mavericks A Victory Against Utah Jazz

Irving scored 33 points in victory

Kyrie Irving scored 17 of his 33 points in the fourth quarter to give the Dallas Mavericks a 120-116 victory against the Utah Jazz.

“I just love the challenge,” Irving said of his fourth-quarter play. “Just seeing where guys’ legs are, seeing where they are mentally, just seeing how many teams stick to their game plan.”

Luka Doncic finished with 29 points and 10 rebounds but went scoreless in the fourth quarter. Lauri Markkanen led the Jazz with 33 points and Talen Horton-Tucker had 21.

OTHER NOTES:

-The Los Angeles Lakers saw Memphis Grizzlies’ star Ja Morant’s absence as a great opportunity to win. Anthony Davis recorded 30 points and a season-high 22 rebounds to lead the Lakers to a 112-103 victory against the Grizzlies. They are now 7-4 since the trade deadline and are playing well despite star LeBron James being sidelined with an ankle injury. At 32-34, the Lakers are No. 9 in the Western Conference standings. 

“It's good, but we're not satisfied,” Davis said. “We don't want to stop there. We want to get greedy.”

Jaren Jackson led the Grizzlies with 26 points and Tyus Jones had 16.
